Attention PreK Families! We hope your child is having a wonderful year in our Pre-K program!

As we begin planning for the next school year, we want to ensure that your child’s transition to Kindergarten is smooth and that we reserve their spot on the roster as early as possible.

If you intend to enroll your child in Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year, you can now complete a Kindergarten Letter of Intent Form found on the District website. Completing this form now allows you to secure your child’s space on the Kindergarten roster without needing to complete the full Kindergarten enrollment packet at this time.

❤️🌍 Our 5th graders at Coburn Elementarylearned that love truly does travel the world! Inspired by the idea that “love can spread across the world,” teachers asked for Valentines to be sent from everywhere — and the response was amazing! 💌 We’ve heard from 23 US states and 9 countries and expect a letter this week from the Olympics! Students received mail from family, travelers, classrooms, and friends all over the globe — from the UK 🇬🇧 and Ireland 🇮🇪 to Australia 🇦🇺, New Zealand 🇳🇿, Italy 🇮🇹 and even as far away as South Korea 🇰🇵! 📍 Every Valentine was pinned on a hallway world map, bringing geography, cultures, and global connection to life. Along the way, students also practiced internet safety and learned about the places the cards came from. Thank you to everyone near and far who helped spread the love! 💕🌎 #GoExpress

The Elmira Wegmans has supported an interview project in the Elmira High School Business Department for the past two years. The project begins with students, within the business department, expressing interest in interviewing with Wegmans. Students must have all work completed in their business classes and have limited absences. Students then work to prepare resumes and cover letters and work through successful interview strategies such as company research and planning and preparing for anticipated interview questions. This culminates with an actual interview with a Wegmans representative at Elmira High School.

Last year Wegmans interviewed 21 students and hired 12 of them. This year they hired 6 students.

This program was made possible because the Wegmans Human Resources person is on the Academy of Finance Advisory Board. The Elmira Wegmans was awarded with the Partners in Education award from the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce for this program at their Annual Awards Ceremony on December 5, 2025. #GoExpress

🎶On November 21st and 22nd, 350 of the area’s top music students came to Elmira High School for a two day music festival, Area All-State, hosted by the music faculty at Elmira High School.

🎻🥁🎷🎺🎹The students, representing 38 school districts from Allegany, Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler, and Yates counties, were accepted into the Concert Band, Mixed Chorus, Modern Band, or String Orchestra and were given the opportunity to rehearse and perform with professional conductors. The 10th, 11th, and 12th grade musicians started the process of being accepted into the honor ensembles the previous Spring and they had an amazing concert.
🎉Congratulations especially to our Elmira High School students that were accepted! Seven band students, eight orchestra students, and three choir students chosen for this honor!

🎼Another congratulations to Kimberly Henry, the festival host, for also being elected as the Zone 15 NYSSMA Representative! She will be representing the Southern Tier music teachers at the State level for next three years.

Our 9th grade Broadway Academy biologists recently became food scientists! Students tested classic Thanksgiving foods—like turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie—using chemical indicators to identify starches, sugars, proteins, lipids, and pH levels. Their goal? To analyze the nutritional makeup of each food and determine how different macromolecules impact our health and blood glucose levels.

This hands-on investigation helps students connect biology to real life by exploring how the foods we eat affect our bodies, homeostasis, and overall wellness.

Nothing beats learning science through something as delicious and familiar as Thanksgiving dinner! #GoExpress

One of the greatest strengths of our community is the way we come together—learning from one another, sharing what we have, and lifting each other up through simple acts of kindness. Tonight was a special reminder of that.

At Beecher Elementary, families gathered around the table for a Thanksgiving Feast, while Hendy Elementary filled with laughter and connection during family fun night. From children making handmade crafts for local animal shelters to staff and volunteers serving warm Thanksgiving meals donated by generous community businesses, the spirit of giving was everywhere.

Moments like these make you feel like you’re part of something truly special—something bigger than yourself. And that sense of belonging is what makes our community extraordinary. #GoExpress
