Curriculum Guides

Curriculum Guides are outlines of what will be taught in each grade. Teachers use these guides to plan instruction for the year in English Language Arts, mathematics, science and social studies. At any time, teachers' lesson plans will be in the general vicinity of where the guides recommend. If you find that your child's class is a little ahead or a little behind the guide, you know that his or her teacher is accommodating the needs of the class.

Parents can use the guides to keep aware of what is happening in their child's classroom. This parental awareness and support has statistically proven to boost academic scores for students. Parents can assist struggling students with their work more readily when they can see the "big picture" of what is happening each month. If they understand what topics are being discussed during school, parents can support their children by asking questions relevant to the learning and can connect them to related books, TV shows and internet sites.
