What is biometric screening?
A biometric screening is one component of a comprehensive wellness program and can include measuring your blood pressure, body mass index, cholesterol levels and blood glucose levels to assess overall health status.

What is the purpose and benefit of biometric screening?
The purpose of biometric screening is to raise health awareness with an emphasis on early risk detection. A biometric screening can help you learn about your health status and also may help detect health problems if your results are not in normal range.

Who can participate?
The biometric screening is open to all Elmira City School District MVP members. Please sign up for an appointment online using the link(s) provided above.

What happens during the screening?
These comprehensive, confidential screenings are conducted by a registered nurse. All that is involved is a quick finger stick and you will receive instant results, and a thorough explanation of, your:

• Total Cholesterol
• Hemoglobin A1C (blood glucose)
• Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, Oxygen Saturation
• Weight, Body Mass Index and percentage of Body Fat

The biometric screen does not test for illicit drugs, HIV/AIDS, or hepatitis. Individual results are never shared with your employer; all information is kept confidential in compliance with the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 HIPAA.

What do I need to do to prepare for the biometric screening?
You DO NOT need to fast
Drink plenty of water, which makes it easier to take a sample of your blood.
Continue taking medication as prescribed the day of the screening.
Bring your MVP insurance card and allow time to fill out any registration materials prior to testing.
The entire process (including consultation) takes about 15-20 minutes.

Is there a cost?
No, the biometric screenings are at no cost to the member as the screenings are processed as a preventive medical claim.

How long is the data good for?
The screening data will be valid for 24 months from the date of screening so employees will be able to use this information to redeem their 2019 and 2020 WellBeing Rewards.

Will someone be there to answer my WellBeing Rewards questions?

MVP will attend the events to help people understand the program and walk them through completing their Personal Health Assessment.
