Elmira Schools will join over 21 Million Students Worldwide to Create a Culture of Kindness!

The Elmira City School District is KINDNESS CERTIFIED by the global Great Kindness Challenge

On Monday, January 27th, the 14th annual Great Kindness Challenge will kick-off. Presented by Kids for Peace, a California-based global nonprofit, this one-week bullying prevention program empowers students to actively create a culture of compassion, unity, and respect at school and beyond. Students are provided with a kindness checklist and are “challenged” to complete as many acts of kindness as possible throughout the week.

The Great Kindness Challenge began in 2012 with three Carlsbad CA schools and has since grown into a global kindness movement, now engaging over 21 million students across all 50 states and 115 countries. This positive, proactive, and powerful week will mobilize students worldwide to create communities that are respectful, compassionate, happy, and kind. Together, these students will complete over 1 billion acts of kindness!

Jazzercise, a leading dance fitness company known for its dynamic programs and vibrant community, is the official sponsor of The 2025 Great Kindness Challenge, perfectly aligning with this year’s theme—"KINDNESS MOVES! Kindness moves hearts. Kindness moves minds. Kindness moves bodies. Kindness moves humankind."

Research confirms that kindness has the power to uplift and heal. Kindness is not just a nicety, it is a necessity that must be practiced and made a priority. Using The Great Kindness Challenge curriculum and tools, schools are providing all students a dynamic and meaningful way to create a culture of kindness, joy and compassion.
