One of the nation’s most sought-after inspirational writers, slam Poet and author Ms. Gayle Danley, is working with our Diven Dolphins this week in Ms. Roby, Ms. Noonan-Meck, and Mr. Billbe's classrooms. Her work with students combines movement, voice, drama and poetry for a. She believes that poetry, especially slam poetry, is a highly effective tool to help children grieve because it gives kids who have pain in their hearts a tool for release. Our students are learning how creative expression is a healing approach to sometimes difficult feelings.
Danly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University and a Master of Science from Syracuse University and is on the Kennedy Center’s roster of master teaching artists for high level arts integration workshops in schools. We are lucky to have her again in Elmira (Danly visited EDA earlier this school year to work with our middle school students).
