NYS Travel Details Effective April 1, 2021As we approach our upcoming Spring Break recess we wanted to share the latest about the new travel guidelines and restrictions for New York State residents traveling outside of New York State after April 1, 2021. These restrictions were modified today by the Governor.

ALBANY, N.Y. (WENY) – Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday domestic travelers will no longer be required to quarantine after entering New York State from another state or US territory, effective April 1.
While it will no longer be mandated, the State Department of Health still recommends quarantine after domestic travel as an “added precaution”. Quarantine is still mandatory for international travelers.

All travelers must continue to fill out the traveler health form and state officials say everyone should continue to follow COVID-19 safety protocols, including wearing masks, socially distancing and avoiding gatherings.

Anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms after traveling must still immediately self-isolate and contact the local public health department or their doctor to report their symptoms and determine if they should get tested for COVID-19.

Based on this information, students that travel outside of New York State will not need to quarantine or test upon their return to the state. If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out or you can consult the New York State Department of Health webpage or the Chemung County Health Department site.
