Among the many opportunities for students to become involved, we know our Elmira Express music program is one of the strongest. From their elementary school start in music and all the way through middle and high school, our Express music students are on key and march to a very strong beat.
The Elmira High School Marching band has had a fantastic season so far this fall! They had a fantastic Band Camp in August, played at a couple pep rally events in our high school and played in the stands in our new stadium!
They performed the "Bruno Mars" half-time show at our remaining home football games and performed at the Bandtoberfest Band Show in Corning on October 22nd, 2022. And our Elmira High School String Ensemble performed at Brand Park for the Eastside Farmers' Market in late September.
Why is Music Education Important?
Music stimulates the brain, and with its varied sounds and lyrics, students are exposed to a large amount of vocabulary in a short amount of time. Music also provides exposure to other languages, which creates a foundation for the student's ability to understand and communicate in a different language.
