'Tis the Season for Snow Day/Delay Information!
Old man winter is headed our way and we want to make sure our families know exactly where to find snow day information for those wintery school mornings.
One thing is for certain in the Northeast, and that is we can always count on snow storms to slow down our days. And in the spirit of tradition, snowy childhood adventures, and all things normal in this uncertain year, our District will close completely (no virtual school) if/when snow days are announced.
Our transportation team, superintendents office and regional DOT officials help to determine snow day calls, usually very early in the morning. For big storms, forecasted early by weather officials, we can (rarely) make school decisions the night before. Otherwise, families can expect to learn about snow days bright and early in the morning.
Where to Find Snow Day/Delay School Status?
1. To begin, you can always check the District homepage at www.elmiracityschools.com. We will post an alert at the top of the page in the morning for families to access.
2. Local news - The District will issue a press release to local media on mornings that snow is impacting school. WENY, WETM, WINK 106 and our other local news partners will include our closure/delays on their marquee scroller both on the television and online.
3. Social Media - Do you follow the District on Facebook and Twitter? Give us a like and always stay up to date on weather delays/closings + all of the amazing things happening in our District.
4. No more School Closure Hotline - In years past, we've recorded a message to a phone hotline for families to call to check on school status. Not many utilized this service, so as of this year, we are discontinuing the phone line.
5. Look out the window! We always encourage our families to make the best decisions possible for their own safety as well. Especially our rural families, conditions are different in various areas of our region. Be smart and play it safe!
