Students' hair is checked on an as-needed basis throughout the school year. Children may remain in school when nits (eggs) are found.

If lice are found, parents will be notified that their child needs to be treated that day. The student will be allowed to return to class and ride the bus home if the parent cannot be reached.

Siblings who live in the same home will be screened as soon as possible.

The morning after lice treatment is given, the parent must bring the student to the health office for examination and sign a declaration that the child has been treated. The student may stay in school if no live lice are present. If live lice are found, the student will be sent home.
