Today, Monday January 9, 2023, is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day!

Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day! On behalf our Elmira school community, THANK YOU law enforcement officers for your selflessness & bravery. We appreciate your service in keeping our community safe! Special thanks to our very own Express Community Resource Officers!

We have the very best in Elmira! And we are lucky to have an officer in each school, building relationships and keeping our students and staff safe. Thank you to the following full time Community Resource Officers from the Chemung County Sheriff's Department:

When was National law enforcement Day created?

Across the country on January 9th each year, citizens take the lead to show support on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The holiday was first celebrated in 1962 and is the official Police Day of the United States. On this day each year, citizens help commemorate National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
