Two New ACE Courses Offered this Fall!

Elmira High School will be offering two free ACE courses after school at EHS through the ESAP program. FREE after school ACE courses will now start on November 23, 2021.

First Year Experience (FYEX) | FYEX 1000 – 3 Credits
Starting November 23, 2021
Designed to assist first-year college students in adjusting to the college environment as well as becoming familiar with strategies for success. A general orientation to the resources of the college, essential academic success skills to better understand the learning process, and career exploration will be covered. Lecture, discussions, and activities. This class offering is hybrid – partially in-person and partially remote-virtual.

Essentials of Art ARTS 1000 – 3 credits
Starting November 23, 2021
An Introduction to the Visual Arts Emphasizing the Understanding and Appreciation of Art Through a Review of the Elements and principles of art and design, as well as an examination of two and three dimensional art forms, methods and media. Meets SUNY General Education requirement in the Arts. This class offering is hybrid – partially in-person and partially remote-virtual.

What is an ACE Course?

ACE is a concurrent enrollment program in which high school students take college-level courses at their high school, earning college credit through SUNY CCC. The ACE program is the region's first choice for high school students to become involved with concurrent enrollment programs and post-secondary experiences.

Students enrolled in ACE course(s) earn college credit and an official college transcript.

What is ESAP?

The Elmira Students Achieve and Prepare for Bright Futures (ESAP Bright Futures) program supports after-school and summer programming that provides academic support and enrichment activities to increase educational equity and success for students in 10th – 12th grade as well as provide a nurturing environment that offers students the opportunities to participate in activities that enhance and extend academic experiences while providing for social and emotional growth and college/career exploration.
