Doves released in honor of Ben Shultz

EDMS has found several ways to honor Benjamin Shultz, a 7th-grader who was killed May 12 in an accident. On May 17, the Orange Team released doves outside the school; the NJHS ceremony May 16 paid tribute to Ben, and the modified baseball and track teams are paying tribute to him for the rest of the season.

 

Budget Vote is May 21

The Elmira City School District budget vote and school board election is Tuesday, May 21. On the ballot is the approval of the proposed budget, school bus purchases and election of four members to the Board of Education.

Diven hosts author Monday at school

Diven Elementary School will host children’s author and illustrator Matt McElligott on Monday, May 20 for a day-long visit with students. At 9 a.m., the student body will welcome McElligott on the Diven playground blacktop. McElligott will share the creative process of his book "Even Monsters Need Haircuts" during his visit.

Students must sign up now for fall sports

Anyone planning to try out for a varsity, junior varsity or modified fall sport must sign up now to do so. Students must see their school nurse during the month of May to sign up. The nurse can give the student any needed forms and will tell the student if he or she will need a physical.
