Board of Education Candidates Announced
Four (4) seats on the Board of Education are to be filled at the Annual Budget Vote and School Board Election to be held on May 17, 2016. The three (3) candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to three-year terms commencing July 1, 2016 and expiring June 30, 2019. The candidate receiving the fourth highest number of votes will be elected for the remainder of an existing term expiring June 30, 2018.
Budget Hearing and Capital Project Information Session Wednesday, May 4
The Elmira City School District Board of Education will hold a Budget Hearing on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Ernie Davis Academy Community Room, 933 Hoffman St., Elmira, NY. The 2016-2017 proposed budget will be presented followed by an information session on the proposed no additional tax impact capital project.
District Schedules Public Hearing Regarding Preliminary Smart Schools Investment Plan (SSIP)
The Elmira City School District Board of Education will conduct a public hearing regarding the District’s Preliminary Smart Schools Investment Plan (SSIP) for the Smart Schools Bond Act at the March 2, 2016 Board of Education Meeting. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Ernie Davis Academy Community Room, 933 Hoffman St., Elmira, NY 14905. The preliminary SSIP is available for review at elmiracityschools.com/technology.cfm
Elmira High School Senior to Sign National Letter of Intent to Play Soccer at Corning Community College
The Elmira City School District is proud to announce that Elmira High School senior Mallory Ziegler will be signing a National Letter of Intent to join the women’s soccer team at Corning Community College in the fall. On Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 3:45 p.m., we will recognize Mallory as she signs her letter of intent in the Elmira High School Community Room.
Fassett Elementary School Adopts a Soldier
Karen Buck's kindergarten class at Fassett Elementary School recently adopted a soldier, Lt. Stephen Gonzalez. The class made their adopted solider paper soldiers and wrote him a letter on Veterans Day. The class is also keeping in touch with their soldier throughout the school year by writing him additional letters!
Fassett Elementary School’s Family Spaghetti Dinner Features C.I.D.S. Guest Speaker
Fassett Elementary School held a family spaghetti dinner on January 14, featuring guest speaker Alise Mahr, Program Coordinator at Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Developmental Services, Inc. Thank you to our BOCES culinary students and Texas Roadhouse for providing food for the event and thank you to Alise for your discussion with our Fassett families!
