National School Counselor Week February 6-10
National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 6–10, 2017, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do.
EHS VEX Robotics Competition February 4, 2017
Middle and high school students from Elmira, Tioga Center, Oswego, Cuba-Rushford, Dansville, Harpursville, Sandy Creek, Syracuse, Binghamton, and Athens, PA will descend upon Elmira High School on Saturday, February 4, 2017 for the Express VEX Robotics Competition
Pre-K Registration for 2017-2018
Registration for the Elmira City School District 2017-2018 Pre-Kindergarten and EOP/Head Start programs is soon approaching. The Pre-K program is open to children who will be 4 years old by December 1st. There is no fee for participation. For your convenience you may register at any of the locations listed below regardless of the school you choose. The child does not need to be present.
APEX PROJECT (Achieve*Prepare*EXPLORE) has begun at Ernie Davis Academy
ECSD is pleased to announce that the after school program for students at Ernie Davis Academy has begun this week, offering both tutoring and enrichment programs for students. The APEX Project is two hours a day, three days a week—Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Each session is one hour long—3:20 to 4:20 PM and 4:20 to 5:20 PM, and Saturdays from 8:00 to 9:00 AM and 9:00 to 10 AM with transportation provided. Students are not required to stay for both sessions but we encourage students to be a part of both tutoring and enrichments. Transportation home is offered only once at 5:20 PM, and 10:00 AM Saturdays. On Saturdays we offer transportation to school, as well as home at 10:00 AM.
Riverside Elementary to Unearth Time Capsule
Riverside Elementary is pleased to announce the unearthing of the 25 year anniversary time capsule of Riverside’s addition. Come with us down memory lane to discover what was important to the students and staff of Riverside Elementary. The ceremony will take place on November 17, 2016 at 1:30 in the Riverside Elementary gymnasium. Any community member who attended Riverside in the fall of 1991 as well as our current school community is welcome to attend.
March Out Hunger
The Elmira City School District will participate in this year’s 15th annual “March Out Hunger” event on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at noon. The march will take place at TOPS Friendly Market (299 South Main Street, Elmira).
