Dutch Educators Travel to Elmira to Learn about Community Schools
Educators from the Netherlands visited Elmira, NY on Tuesday October 16, 2017 to tour and learn about the Elmira City School District’s university-assisted community school program that benefits children and families.
NYS Board of Education Recognition Week
The New York State School Boards Association recognizes October 23-27 as School Board Recognition Week. This is a time to promote awareness and understanding of the important work performed by school board members. The Elmira City School District is joining all public school districts across the state to celebrate School Board Recognition Week to honor local board members for their commitment to Elmira and its children.
Academy of Finance Now Available
The Elmira High School recently announced the launch of a new high school program called the “Academy of Finance.” The Academy of Finance, a member of the NAF (National Academy Foundation) Network, is a three-year program that combines required, industry-based classes with work experience. Those accepted into the program will take specialized classes and have the opportunity to work in a paid summer internship at a local business or industry-specific related organization.
