Welcome to the Diven Elementary School Counseling page!
Hi, my name is Jill McLaughlin, and this is my first year as School Counselor at Diven Elementary School. I am very excited about getting started this year. I look forward to getting to know each student and meeting their families.
As the school counselor, I will be working in many different ways to help students do their best and reach their goals academically and socially. Each month I will be teaching lessons in all classrooms on a variety of topics including making good choices, anti-bullying, friendship, self-esteem, careers, and more. In addition, I will run small groups throughout the year, addressing areas of need such as social skill building and anger management. Also, I am available to all students to talk individually about any problems they may have during the school year.
In addition to working directly with students, I will be working closely with staff and parents to best meet students needs. Working together as a team is very important. I look forward to getting to know each teacher in the building and the families of our students. I can be reached by phone, e-mail or simply by stopping by my office. My door is always open to students, parents and staff.
