Voters
headed to the polls on May 19, 2009, to vote on the district's proposed
2009-10 budget and to elect three candidates to serve on the School
Board.
Voters approved all four propositions in the budget portion of the election. The propositions were:
Three out of a field of six Board candidates won seats:
Daniel Hurley | Sara Lattin | Mary Tucker |
The
Board delayed releasing these results immediately because it exercised
caution in light of errors that occurred in its 2007 election vote and
there was a problem with one of the voting machines at Southside High
School.
Dan
Hurley, as the candidate with the most votes, has 30 days to take over
the term currently held by Barton Graham. Graham was appointed to serve
out the term previously held by Mary Beth Turner, who resigned last
fall. The other top two winning candidates will begin their terms on
July 1, 2009. All three who were elected will serve through June 30,
2012.
Official election results for the district's School
Budget and Board Candidate vote were declared at the May 20 special
Board Meeting.
The following candidates earned seats on the Board of Education:
Dianna Brewer, term of three years, to June 30, 2011
Ted Lax, term of three years, to June 30, 2011
Larry McGovern Jr., term of three years, to June 30, 2011
Colleen McCall, completion of unexpired term, to June 30, 2010
