Welcome to the Riverside Elementary School Counseling page!

Hello everybody!

My name is Miss Ewing and I am the school counselor at Riverside Elementary and Diven Elementary schools. This is my first year in Elmira and I am excited to be here.

A school counselor's role has transformed over the years. Today's school counselors develop trusting relationships with students and staff by going into the classrooms and reaching all the students instead of a select few. We also meet with students in small groups, focusing on developing a unique set of skills.

We focus on three areas: personal/social, academic and career. These three areas will allow us to reach the whole child, not just a single aspect.

I look forward to working together with the staff and the parents. Parents are an integral part in their child's life. Their role in a child's education is priceless. Please do not hesitate to call with any questions or concerns. I wish you and your family nothing but the best for the upcoming school year.
