Fassett families and staff members made mouths water with their entries in the second annual family cake-decorating contest March 18.
The contest, in honor of Reading is a Fun Adventure Month, featured cakes decorated to look like favorite books and characters. Guest judges, students and staff members voted for their favorites, and awards were given in several categories.
Best Staff Cake: kindergarten teacher Kelly Palmer, My Monster Mama Loves Me So;
Best Cake That Most Represents a Specific Book: Zachary Pack, Apple Trouble;
Most Unique Cake: Vanessa Troccia, dragon cake;
Student's Choice Winner: Nate Piegdon, Rapunzel;
Staff's Choice Winner: Kindergarten teacher Karen Buck s class, Rainbow Fish;
Grand-Friend's Choice Winner: Lauren Brant, A Practical Guide to Caring for Your Fish;
Grand Prize Winner: Mackenzie Mosher, The Little Engine That Could.
Mrs. Palmer's class won a pizza party for entering the most cakes.
The contest also featured a silent auction that raised funds for EOP's Literacy Volunteers of Chemung County.
