Employment Opportunities

 

Thank you for your interest in employment at the Elmira City School District! Our district is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Our district no longer accepts paper employment applications. You must apply online for consideration. If you do not have access to a computer with an internet connection or a scanner, you may come to our office and apply using our new computer kiosks for online applicants.

Before you may be considered for employment, your online application file must be complete. A complete online file includes the following:

Non-Instructional/Administration

  • Completed Civil Service Application
  • A current resume
  • A letter of interest
  • Three written and signed current letters of reference, less than three years old. The references may include one personal reference but at least two professional references must be submitted. Letters must be signed by the person writing the reference. (Signatures that are computer-generated fonts or scripts are not acceptable.)
  • Copy of your high school diploma/transcripts or GED
  • If you are applying for a position that requires a professional license and/or first aide and CPR, these must be provided at the time of application.

Instructional/Administration

  • Completed Application of Employment
  • A current resume
  • A letter of Interest
  • Three written and signed current letters of reference, less than three years old. Letters must be signed by the person writing the reference. (Signatures that are computer-generated fonts or scripts are not acceptable.)
  • Copies of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts (no internet copies please. Must be on school letterhead).
  • Photocopy of your New York State teaching certification

All of your materials must be uploaded into your online application file. When all of these pieces of information are in your online file, your application will be considered complete. Application materials are kept in our active file for a period of one year.

Every application will be reviewed, but it may not be possible to interview each applicant. If your application is selected for an interview, you will be notified.

Fingerprinting Fee Notice

New York State requires fingerprinting of all school district employees, which currently costs $94.25.

It is the responsibility of the employee to pay this fee, and it should be paid at the time of hire using a Visa, MasterCard or debit card. If the prospective employee does not have a credit/debit card, prepaid cards may be purchased at most local grocery stores or pharmacies. Please make sure your card is activated prior to your fingerprinting appointment with our district's Human Resource Department.
