After-school program

The Ernie Davis Middle School KidZone Program is a free after school/extended day program operated by school district staff under the direction of the Elmira YWCA, funded by a grant from the NYS Department of Education.

KidZone provides middle school students with academic, enrichment, recreational and social programs daily after school until 5:15 p.m. Programs are available every day after school, November through May, except on half-days.

In order for students to benefit from the activities, attendance is expected on a regular basis.

Before kids can join KidZone, parents must fill out an application and a photo release form and return them with your child to the main office. It's very important that KidZone staff have parents' current contact information, so if a phone number changes, be sure to let the staff know.

A late bus is available at 4:20 p.m. for bus students.

Programs located off school grounds may require an additional parental consent form. Transportation is provided to off-site programs but pick up to those sites is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

The EDMS Builders Club participated in the Downtown Holiday Window Painting on Nov. 22. So far this year, EDMS Builders Club activities include Bell-Ringing for the Salvation Army, making greeting cards for Meals on Wheels recipients, helping wrap gifts at the Mall with the Cancer Society, singing in the Arctic League chorus, sending Christmas cards to soldiers, making decorations for Thanksgiving meals at a homeless shelter, and raising money for Unicef.

The Ernie Davis Middle School Builders Club ring the Salvation Army bell on Thursday December 3 at the Big Lots store on Lake St.
