The
study of Colonial America is an exciting time in 4th grade. We become
apprentices and learn about trades. We make quill pens, baskets,
candles, quilt squares, and preserve food. The girls make mop caps and
aprons while the boys make waistcoats and haversacks. We cook corn
bread and sourdough bread. We also learn colonial dances and songs. We
visit a local landmark, The Benjamin Paterson Inn, and its one-room
school house.
