Welcome to the Broadway Elementary School Counseling page!

Hello! My name is Aimee Garrett and I am the School Counselor at Broadway Elementary school. I feel privileged to be starting my third year in this position, working so closely with our students and families. I love being a School Counselor because I have the opportunity to be part of such a great district and community in a helping role.

By working closely with parents, students, staff and community agencies, I can help students be successful both in and out of school. Teaching students coping skills, resiliency, appropriate ways of dealing with feelings and making good choices are all positive tools that will benefit students in the future.

As a School Counselor, I meet with students individually on a short-term basis when they are experiencing difficulties at school or at home. I also meet with students in small groups covering various topics (i.e. social skills, anger management, self-esteem). Additionally, I go into classrooms to provide lessons every month on a variety of topics that have been chosen based on a staff needs assessment. I also facilitate many positive programs within the school, such as Conflict Managers, SMILE mentoring program, Learn and Serve and The New Kid Club.

Communication between home and school is imperative in helping our students be successful, and I welcome e-mails and phone calls from parents/guardians regarding any concerns or questions you may have. If you would like to set up an appointment to meet with me, please e-mail, call or speak with one of our wonderful secretaries. I look forward to working with you and our staff to help build positive futures for all of our students at Broadway Elementary.
